DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Job Title: Asst. Director/Lead Teacher
Operational Duties
1. Supervises the Montessori program and teaches the Primary classroom
2. Ensures that the appropriate Montessori curriculum is available, implemented, and maintained
3. Supervises and evaluates staff
4. Develops staff schedules
5. Works with staff to plan and oversee staff training
6. Oversees the development of the annual calendar.
7. Supervises the development of operations materials, including the school directory, the school calendar, the school handbook, the re-enrollment packet, and the summer mailing packet.
8. Supervises the production of a school newsletter
9. Updates parents’ contact sheet, daily outdoor inspection log, and Fire drill log sheets
10. Ensures that the general classroom area, staircases (front & back), and restrooms are clean
Recruitment and Retention
1. Develop and supervise a comprehensive and effective recruitment and retention plan
2. Tracks enrollment and retention data and projects growth for each level
3. Develop and/or revise enrollment and exit processes and forms
4. Oversees the creation of brochures and other promotional materials
5. Oversees the informational sessions and school visits of parents of potential students
6. Oversees the continuous education process of parents and community members regarding the Montessori curriculum and philosophy, including open houses, and parent/community visits
ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or equivalent required.
- Montessori Certification is strongly preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in education administration and business administration.
- Minimum of three (3) years teaching experience preferred.
- Meets minimum preparation, experience, and/or any state-required credentials to comply with DC regulations and accrediting boards.
- Knowledge of principles, techniques, goals, and objectives of early childhood education.
- Demonstrates knowledge of and proficiency with technology and commitment to the unique role it plays in education.
- Prior recruiting and onboarding experience.
- Possesses time management and organizational skills.
- Possesses basic math skills.
