Floating Substitute

The Children's Tree Montessori School in Old Saybrook, CT, is looking to fill a position for a floating substitute teacher to join our team. Qualified candidates will be sent to a Montessori assistant training program to learn more about the Montessori philosophy. Ideal candidates will have experience working with ages 1 to 12 years olds, a respect for all children, excellent communication skills, the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, and the ability to think creatively and prepare new works to meet the needs of students. Qualifications for Ideal Candidates

• Associate degree or higher in early childhood or education
• Experience working in a Montessori classroom
• Energetic, Compassionate, Team Player 
• Montessori Assistant training prior to starting in September (school will sponsor training)
• Effective Communication Skills
• Can exercise tact, discretion, and confidentiality
• Be able to maintain a flexible schedule since you will be subbing in multiple classrooms.

Responsibilities:

• Treat all children with dignity and respect. 
• Always maintain a professional attitude and loyalty to the School.
• Follow safety procedures and protocols.
• Help with general housekeeping tasks and help maintain neat and organized classrooms.
• Supervise the classroom when the regular Teacher is not present.
• Attend staff meetings and all school functions. 
• Become familiar with and follow Montessori philosophy and methods.
• Help Lead Teacher to supervise and promote activities designed to enhance the healthy emotional, social, intellectual, and physical development of children enrolled at the School. 
• Help children establish good habits of personal hygiene.
• Work outdoors in any variety of weather.
• Submit to a background check.
