Responsibilities:
- Daily prepare and maintain a beautiful, safe, and authentic Montessori classroom environment.
- Work closely with Montessori assistants to ensure the children receive individualized instruction in a well-maintained and structured classroom environment.
- Provide lessons individually and in small groups.
- Observe children in their environment, plan lessons, create materials for the environment, manage classroom inventory, write student progress reports and individual curriculum, ensure individual student needs are met (socially, emotionally, and cognitively).
- Embrace the Montessori philosophy and have the discipline required to embody Montessori values at all times.
- Interact with children in a respectful, calm, and warm tone. Consistently modeling the behavior we teach in our daily grace and courtesy lessons. Provide gentile, compassionate limits for children and set realistic boundaries.
- Work with administration and other lead guide teachers to implement positive and constructive feedback, program design, and needed policy changes.
- Communicate with parents via emails, monthly classroom emails, and bi-monthly newsletters, and participate in parent orientation and conferences.
- For candidates without Montessori certification, GMS will provide coaching and mentoring throughout your training as a Montessori Lead guide.
- The candidate must have an excellent track record of attendance. This is a full-time, 10-month position with vacation and paid days off. Please note teachers will attend additional professional development training sessions, parent or admin/staff meetings and conferences, school events/fundraisers, etc, which may be outside of regular school hours.
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree and Lower Elementary Montessori Credential
Proficiently speak, read, and write English
US work authorization (required)
