As a Lead Montessori Guide, you will be responsible for implementing the Montessori philosophy, principles, and practices in our educational program. Your role will involve creating a nurturing and stimulating environment that promotes the holistic development of each child in our care.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive Montessori curriculum that aligns with the developmental needs of children.
  • Prepare and maintain a well-organized Montessori classroom environment, ensuring it is clean, safe, and equipped with appropriate materials.
  • Facilitate child-led learning, individualized instruction, and exploration within the Montessori framework.
  • Observe and assess each child's progress, maintain records, and provide feedback to parents/guardians.
  • Act as a role model for children, creating a positive and respectful atmosphere.
  • Guide and assist children in their daily activities, ensuring their understanding of lessons and promoting independence.
  • Foster a sense of community and encourage cooperation and collaboration among students.
  • Facilitate positive conflict resolution and promote the development of social-emotional skills.
  • Establish effective communication channels with parents/guardians, providing regular updates on their child's progress.
  • Conduct parent-teacher conferences and address any concerns or questions raised by families.
  • Collaborate with parents/guardians to support the integration of Montessori principles in the home environment.
  • Stay informed about current research, trends, and best practices in Montessori education.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development opportunities to enhance teaching skills and knowledge. A minimum of 15 clock hours of training annually, or more based on state requirements.
  • Participate in staff meetings, curriculum planning, and program evaluation activities.
  • Attends school events specified in the employee handbook.
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Executive Director.

Requirements:

  • Montessori Credentials: Hold a recognized Montessori teaching credential from a reputable training center (AMI, AMS, MACTE, etc.).
  • Experience: Have prior experience working as a Montessori guide or in a similar early childhood education role.
  • Strong Educational Philosophy: Possess a deep understanding and appreciation for the Montessori philosophy, principles, and methods.
  • Classroom Management Skills: Demonstrate the ability to create a structured and organized classroom environment while nurturing individual growth.
  • Communication Skills: Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • Passion for Education: Show enthusiasm, creativity, and dedication to fostering the intellectual, social, and emotional development of children.
  • Flexibility: Adapt to changing circumstances and embrace a collaborative approach to teaching and learning.

Work Hours:

The Lead Montessori Guide will work the hours necessary to satisfactorily perform the position, including performing said service between the hours of 7:30 AM and 3:30 PM Monday through Friday, and at other times to be agreed upon by the parties. All hours will be on school premises to ensure the ratio and safety of the community is in practice. School holidays excepted.
