Elementary Lead Teacher

Montessori School of Louisville, is a thriving non-profit Montessori school in Louisville, KY, dedicated to fostering a love of learning and nurturing the unique potential of each child. MSL is the only Montessori school in Kentucky to hold dual accreditation from AMS and Cognia. We are seeking a passionate and experienced Montessori Lead Teacher to guide and inspire our students in a vibrant and supportive learning environment.

About the Role:  As a Montessori Lead Teacher, you will be the primary guide for a classroom of Lower Elementary (6-9 years) students, responsible for creating a prepared environment, implementing the Montessori curriculum, and fostering a positive and engaging learning experience. You will also serve as a Montessori advocate and leader for our teaching team, ensuring high-quality instruction and a consistent Montessori approach.

Responsibilities:

Montessori Expertise:

• Thoroughly understand and implement the Montessori philosophy and curriculum.
• Prepare and maintain a well-organized, aesthetically pleasing, and child-centered learning environment.
• Guide students in selecting and using Montessori materials, fostering independence and self-directed learning.
• Observe, assess, and document student progress, tailoring instruction to individual needs.
• Collaborate with parents and other staff members to support student development.

Leadership & Mentorship:

• Lead and mentor a team of teachers, providing guidance and support in their professional development.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of school-wide policies and procedures.
• Participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and school events.
• Maintain open and effective communication with parents and the school administration.

Classroom Management:

• Manage classroom activities effectively, ensuring a safe and engaging learning environment. 
• Maintain a positive and respectful classroom culture.
• Model appropriate behavior and social skills for students.
• Address any behavioral issues in a calm and constructive manner.

Qualifications:

• Montessori Teacher Credential or willingness to complete training within (required)
• Bachelor's degree in Education or a related field (preferred)
• Proven experience as a Montessori teacher
• Strong understanding of child development and learning principles
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
• Passion for the Montessori philosophy and a commitment to creating a positive learning , collaborative environment
